Ji’nan Yuxing’s 18 Lean Six Sigma black belt and green belt programs for 2011 passed an evaluation done for ChemChina and the China National BlueStar (Group) Co, Ltd, March 27~29, by a panel of experts. The panel came from prominent consulting firms such as HP, Jingyi Guanghe, BMGO and Yangzhi, as well as industry experts from BlueStar.

The evaluation covered one black belt program, four management-related black belt programs, and 13 green belt programs, in relation to improved capacity and efficiency, energy savings and emissions reductions, lower maintenance costs, and storage and transportation. Panel members singled out the Reduction of the 100,000-ton Titanium White Unit’s Consumption program begun initiated by the general manager .Mr Ji, for its clear logic, use of analytical tools, effective steps, and annual income results.

The team members from 18 programs worked for nearly a year on the continued-improvement program, in research and in cooperating closely to overcome various setbacks in program implementation. They also studied the production process to collect data while using the analytical tools and studying impact to make improvements and reach their goals.

Under the general manager’s guidance, the team looked for ways to cut packaging costs and to increase the quality of product packaging. They studied the effect of titanium pigment particles on the package size. They also surveyed other titanium pigment manufacturers on the size and quality of packaging. Thanks to improvements in the company’s TPM, the size of the packaging was changed, eliminating the problem of old-fashioned packaging and giving Ji’nan Yuxing a new image that clients and colleagues all approve of.

The Lean Six Sigma continued-improvement program has helped the company improve its management and its revenues and gain a lot in team building and personnel training, which is useful in establishing a research-oriented enterprise. The continued-improvement concept was interiorized through programs at various levels, and showed the great potential in continuing improvements.
