National Titanium Dioxide Member Conference 2012 was held in Jinan, Shandong Province on July 20–23, sponsored by the Titanium Dioxide Branch Center, Chemical Industry Productivity Promotion Center of China.
As the titanium dioxide industry develops rapidly, there is still some challenges. The conference had convened under a complicated background. At the invitation of Titanium Dioxide Branch Center, leaders from the State Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information as well as expert members analyzed the industry along with environmental policies. They gave suggestions for developments. At the conference, several lectures were about the Global Situation & Development of Titanium Dioxide Market, Global Raw Titanium Mines; in terms of the Chinese market, they introduced the Impact of the China Titanium Market, Situation & Trend Analysis of China Titanium Market for the First Half of 2012 and Bottleneck & Question of Chloride Process Titanium Dioxide. Titanium-related enterprises displayed their products.
China’s titanium dioxide production capacity is about 2.6million t/a in 2011. In the next five years, it will increase 1.5 million to 2 million. We have become one of the most important forces in international titanium dioxide industry, no matter in production scale or actual production. However, China still has many problems, such as the outdated chlorination process, poor quality, environmental protection, and low innovation capacity, etc. Therefore, Titanium Dioxide Branch Center proposed “Leading a healthy development with clean production and innovation”. Accordingly, it will organize a group of experts to do research in domestic titanium dioxide industry and promote the best companies. At the same time, the technology innovation strategic alliance for titanium dioxide industry will be established in order to improve the process and enhance the whole industry productive level.
